I just received this email from the Poker Players Alliance ..It really makes my blood boil.. .
I have unfortunate news to report. Despite the efforts of the poker community, the opposition of the banks and the recent news exposing inappropriate influence by the White House, today the current administration finalized the UIGEA regulations to be made effective on January 19th the day before president-elect Obama officially takes office. A copy of the final UIGEA regulations and the PPA's response can be found on our Web site.

I am sure that you share my outrage over this last-minute "midnight rulemaking," but I have not lost my drive to correct this injustice and I call on you to join me and the million strong PPA to help continue our fight. In fact, the Politico Newspaper reports on 11/12 that Congressional leaders are already plotting legislation for next year that will undermine the White House's "midnight" regulations. We must make sure that UIGEA is part of this regulation reversal.

There are 4 things you should do to respond to the government's actions:

1. Call your Member of Congress and let him or her know how disappointed you are by the lame duck administration's implementation of UIGEA and subsequent erosion of your personal freedom.

2. Send an email to the Obama Transition team and tell President-elect Obama that once in office he should immediately turn back the UIGEA and other "midnight rules" issued by President Bush.
3. Help the PPA help you. Become a Premium Member of PPA if you are not already. For only $20 you help us be effective advocates for poker and your membership put us in a strong position to defend your rights. If you are already a Premium PPA member please consider making an additional contribution to our fight.

4. Forward this to your friends and stay updated on the latest developments regarding the UIGEA regulations.

This is not the time to bow our heads in defeat; rather we must continue our efforts with renewed vigor. Thank you for your support and dedication to protecting the game we love.

Proud to play,
Alfonse D'Amato, Chairman
Poker Players Alliance

this "midnight rule" isn't due to be implemented until December, 2009. And even then, there have been provisions made that make getting around this very doable. We're spending too much time on this Federal Law. When it gets down to brass tacks, concerning online gaming, state laws take precendent over Federal ones. One third of us should be hammering away at our govenors. Those of that live in the 13 states where online gambling has been illegal long before UIEGA.

The Feds will not prosecute you for playing. Playing is not illegal. They will prosecute the banks that help you fund your playing.

However, these 13 states WILL prosecute YOU for playing.

Does this mean that there may be less gobby *******s at the tables? Sorry but every offensive, rude, pre-pubescent player has in my experience always been American.

Ps....I love the USA and the majority of them on here, but I guarantee if the are gobby and abusive.........USA they will be from.

I am surprised that you would say all the trash comes from US Players :(

I have screen shots of 5 years worth to prove that is not true.

It is equal throughout the World and I don't think US players are going anywhere as we do fight for what we believe in and want.

Even if some US players have a bad mouth in between there are others too...
I don't bother to mention which I have in mind.

Anyways, I think the question is if Carbon/PDC and other skins in merge network
are going to survive without all the US players... It does not matter when I am
online there are always a majority of US players on the cash tables, in the tourneys
and on the sng tables. What if the US players are not there, what will happen with
Carbon/PDC and other skin in merge network?

Absolutely ! And WHY this thread went in this direction in the first place amuses me.
It's about LOSING a Nation of people. Certainly NOT a time to "beat up" on them too ! UGH ! :(

Maybe the dutch with join ********* like crazy. LOL. No I am not making this up ********** is on the merge network and it is all about weed. Search it on google for yourself. I think obama would over turn these new laws.

Thanks, but no thanks; and I am Swedish.

Even if they ban poker (they did not) America is still a better place to live. Hell, even with that empty-suit Obama in the White House, it's a better place.

What I find funny about all of this is that none of the UIGEA opponents are upset that several poker sites and Neteller funneling money to terrorist groups. Then again, most of those people voted for Obama. No really all that shocking.

Without US players, sites can not survive, ask: Party, Champion, Doyle, et...

The bigger problem we have is people like Russ Hamilton at UB, and the clowns at AP. They are just proving what the UIGEA backers were saying.

why would you keep five years worth of screen shots of trash talking.. believe it or not if you get in a table with nobody talking everyone is concentrating on their play too much... trash talking at the table will interrupt the thought process and you will be able to exploit that.. erm.. that would be a limits a lil above freerolls tho.. ;)

smiles giggles blah blah blah you know the drill...
