FT of a MTT 186 starting players 6players left
bb $6000 sb $3000 ante $125 starting pot $9875
utg min raise to $12,000 (14/4 after 30 hands or so)starting stack $155,467
utg+1 fold
utg+2 fold
utg+3 fold
sb ..me with 88 ( tight table image ) starting stack $75,492 table Short Stack
bb??? (29/24 with at least 100 hands) starting stack$263,611
with a M of less than 8 is this a shove ?
my thoughts were....
utg seems really tight..but raise and fold ,,problay not
player min raised utg and showed down KK ...2 or 3 rounds befor(8 handed)
flat call, and BB is obv playing,, so im OOP with mid PP and hardly no info,
no set im down to an M of less than 6,
in very bad shape
i think this is a eazy fold ...but with my stack and being 6 handed should I ???

you have 15 bb. 5 hands to play before you see bb. I think you're right on the edge of aiof territory but I fold here.

I am always a gwg player ~ go with gut. You folded and I think that's what you should have done. Saying that though you could easily see me on a final table shoving that too ~ it's all in what you feel at the time I guess.

utg= under the gun
MTT= multi table tournment
FT=final table
OOP=out of position

lol, please don't get him started. He'll team up with blue and flood this thread with more abr. than the chinese alphabet has letters. He knew exactly what you were saying. amirite DAD?
M is irrelevant oop preflop with one to act after you. The very best you can hope for is a race. But you already knew that.

if he's 14/4 his utg raising range should have you crushed. Flatcalling sucks, fold em imo

yea i figured he did ..but others may not
and yes M is irrelevent after i shove but if i fold its very relevent
-only 5 more hands till my BB am i getting better than 88..prob not
-fold to me with decent stealing hand..prob not (very active table)
-short handed 6plrs so my M is actualy more like 6 1/2 -7

30 HANDS isnt a hudge sample, but gives somewhat of an indication of how he plays. I doubt 77 or worse are in his range, some hands your flipping with and some have you drawing semidead.
idk i sometimes just spazz shove in spots like these, but it'¨s rarely a good decision

:confused: I just recently learned how to play poker. I have read only one book on the subject: Caro's Fundamental Secrets Of Winning Poker By Mike Caro. It has helped some. What I need to understand along with basics, procedures, tells, & bluffing, is a little more on pot odds, percent-ages and then learn more about betting strategies. Can someone please help?:hearts:

if your more intrested in tournys
my suggestion is to get " Harrington On Holdem" by Dan Harrington
its a 3 book series,,the 1st one is a lay out for his basic stragedy
the 2nd is more advanced and talks alot about late stages of tournys
and the 3rd is set up kinnda like a quiz and it evaluates your play
and helps you realize your strenghts and weakness...
the 1st book was a game changer for me ...
if your more intrested in cash games
im probaly not the right person to help you on which books are best
maybe "Super System" by Doyle Brunson
..i focus mainly on tournys
but for over all help
-read alot of books and then re read them
-all kinds of info on web ,,just google..poker instruction
-review hand historys to analyze your own game after a tourny/cash session
-post questions/hands here on forum
-and most important IMO aply what you learn at the tables..trying diff stragides and diff lines on certin hands , to see what works best for your
personal style
dont get frustrated it takes alot of time and work
i know i wish i had more time to devote to poker

i agree,, getting burnt(losing money) is the best way of learning
the books and forums are just tools to help
i cant belive for a second that either of you think that learning form some of
the best in the game like Doyle Brunson ,Dan Harrington, Bill Fillmaff ect..
could ever be a bad thing
