Welcome to the forum :)

Play within your limits I think is some of the best advice out there. If you play at tables that you can sit at comfortably, it takes the panic away as it relates to "having to win". Hard to concentrate on your game when you are constantly watching the money in front of you.

Playing online is an adjustment. Find stakes you are comfortable playing and hang out there. You will soon notice familiar faces. Keep notes on people. If you notice something, take a second and make note of it. Those notes will help you determine your play against them in the future.

Best of Luck at the tables

Read some books or articles on the game. If you don`t like reading buy a dvd or get an audio book. Any study you do away from the table will generally improve your game far more than a few hours play will.

Initially stick to one discipline. Play either tournies, sngs or ring games, don`t jump about between the 3. If you find you`re uncomfortable about losing large amounts (relative to your bankroll) stick to tournies or sngs because you can only lose your entry fee.

Practice good bankroll management. Don`t enter tournies that cost more than 2 to 3% of your bankroll. If you really want to be tight make that 1%. For cash games only sit down with 5% at most.

Don`t be afraid to drop down levels if you`re not succeeding at that level go back to where you were making a profit, build your roll up a bit and try moving up again in a few weeks or months.

Concentrate on learning the fundamentals. Solid TAG play will often see you get into the cash in tournies. You`re going to need some luck to win with that ABC style but making the money will at least keep your bankroll steady and give you more confidence.

Once you think you have a grasp of the basics then you can start to look at advanced plays and slowly bring them into your game.

Post hand histories and get people to comment on them. Read HH that other people have posted and try and think hat you would have done.

Finally when you take what you think is a bad beat. Give it a while and then look back at the hand. See if there`s any different way you could have played it that might have avoided the result. Sometimes there won`t be but many times you`ll find a mistake in your play and you can try and avoid making the same mistake next time you`re in a similar situation.

That`s all that leaps to mind right now. Hope some of it proves useful to you.

Oh and welcome to the forum

i've been trying hard to work on my game. online and live. keeping notes and trying to remember c plays. and recognize plays. play my hand the best i can. i hope to think that im smart enough to pick up on things quickly and to be at ease when dealing with what i consider larger amounts of dough. there are a few key points that im trying to work on and hopefully see results. i appreciate it.
