Hey I'm new to Carbon. I had no problems for about a week and tonight I go to log in and it says I have connected to the server but just says loading and doesn't do anything. I have rebooted and reinstalled. Still no luck. I emailed support but I haven't heard back yet. I figured this would be a good place to ask about something like that. Thanks for your help.

You can check to see if your firewall is blocking it?

I just checked that and it doesn't seem to be the problem. Either way I made sure it will allow carbon through the firewall. Thanks and any other ideas are welcome.

So you are saying you are connecting to the server and it is trying to load but is not loading... Seems a few people are having same problem...
Just by curiosity are you using AOL?
Are you using Internet Explorer and if so is it up to date?

I am not using AOL as of right now and generally I don't. I use Skype regularly but not AOL. My computers are both 64bit Vista Home Premium. I also use Google Chrome as a browser. I have made sure when I tried starting Carbon that there were no programs running in the background other than essential Microsoft things. If you need any more information about my computer let me know specifics. Thanks for your help I appreciate it.

Hey thanks for the link. I checked out the outages and I'm in the USA not Europe. I'm not sure if that was what you meant by the link:). I don't know what to do support just tells me its something on my end. IDK I doubt its on my end just because there is nothing that I can think of causing it. Especially because its happening on both my computers.

do you get notifications of updates for Vista, or do you auto update? Have you installed SP1 for Vista?

I get notifications for updates. I have installed SP1 a long time ago. I do check updates all the time and always make sure things are up to date. Thanks for continuing to be so helpful with ideas.

The updates may be what is messing you up. Create a restore point for today. Then restore you pc to a point last week before you were having problems. If you still cannot get on, go ahead and restore back to today.

OK, so I just did this and now carbon works...wooo hooo. But now my computer wants to update. Have any feelings or opinions about that? Thanks so much for your help.

My guess is that the problem lies in the security update. It probably doesn't recognize Carbon certificates. Have you tried listing Carbon as an allowed site? Just because you didn't have to pre update, doesn't mean you won't have to now. tbh, I'm not very familiar with Vista. I would list Carbon as an allowed site to your firewall before installing the new security update.

Thanks Miklosik, it was definitely the most recent Update. I was having the same problem - went back to a restore point from 3/8 and everything is ok now. The security update was not listed in my updates, but the .NET x64 update was, and I suspect that is the culprit. I also noticed that it seems to be just people with Vista x64 who are having the problem.
This is due to a Vista update from Sunday 8 March....
If you do a system restore to that date, then you can login without any issues.

So, have you narrowed it down to a specif update then? If it was the .Net update is it mandatory or is there a way to prevent it from having an issue with Carbon?

Hi All!
Microsoft recently made an error in their Windows Defender updates which caused an important line to be removed from the windows HOSTS file. This line is what is preventing the software from connecting to the servers.
We have made an update to our software to work around this problem but to get the update, you will need to uninstall your poker software, download the new software from our website and install the new software onto your machine.
If you still wish to correct your hosts file, follow the steps below:
1) Browse to Start -> All Programs -> Accessories
2) Right click "Notepad" and select "Run as administrator"
3) Click "Continue" on the UAC prompt (Windows needs your permission to continue) or enter your administrator password if requested
4) Click File -> Open
5) Browse to "C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc"
6) Change the file filter drop down box from "Text Documents (*.txt)" to "All Files (*.*)"
7) Select "hosts" and click "Open"
8) Above the line "::1 localhost", add the line "127.0.0.1 localhost" (without the quotes).
9) Click File -> Save and then close notepad
The original file will look like this:
# Copyright (c) 1993-2006 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
::1 localhost
------
After making the changes, the file should look like this:
# Copyright (c) 1993-2006 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each

::1 localhost
I hope that this fixes the issue for everyone. Please let us know if it doesn't fix your problem by contacting support or posting in this thread.
