View Full Version : 4.5 SOFTWARE & VIP PROGRAM

Jason

Want to buy an Ipod with your VIP points? Enter almost every tournament for free? Go on a holiday with your VIP points? Well pay attention cause it is all laid out below. On the 1st of April, the highly anticipated VIP program will roll out and there are a hand full of changes you should be aware of.

The VIP program has been created as a better alternative and to replace the existing comp point system, which while good in its day, has had its time. The new system rewards you where it really counts; in your player wallet. We listened to player requests and have delivered. You are now able to buy into tournaments with points, exchange them for cash, purchase almost anything in the VIP store and loads more.

The program will employ a multi tiered approach and will allow for many more uses of your VIP points. The VIP system and its rewards are briefly explained below.

How the VIP program works

A five tiered approach, players are assigned a level depending on how many points they earn.
Each level has different rewards and benefits. The higher levels naturally have better rewards.
Points are earned at the rate of 10 VIP points per $1 of rake.
Rewards

A new store where players can purchase merchandise, books, dvds, electronics, xboxes, Ipods, holidays ect.
Use VIP points for tournament entry
Exchance VIP points for Cash.
Free & discount withdrawal fees
Freeroll and Guaranteed tournaments

Now youve read my breif promotional spiel on 4.5 and VIP, check the links below for FULL details.

http://www.carbonpoker.com/features/whatsnew.html

and also please check

http://www.carbonpoker.com/vip/

if you have any questions after reading through everything! feel free to post below and perhaps other forumers can help explain or myself or Liam will check this thread periodically over the next few days trying to answer any unanswered questions. Your feedback also helps us update information that we may have missed. :) Enjoy the new changes, they really are going to make your poker experience at Carbon far more rewarding

They will most likely be converted somehow to VIP points.

Forgive me If I simply just didn't read things correctly on the VIP pages, but I have been wondering this for some time now and since the page finally has more content about the new VIP levels and my question is still not answered (lest I missed it somewhere) let me ask it now since i'm bored waiting for the client to go live.

Each VIP level has a certain number of VIP points needed to qualify, but I've not seen a distinct time frame needed to make this level. Is it monthly as I assume?

Fritzson, you post in the forum a lot so you probably missed it by accident. However, aren't you jumping to conclusions regarding the points  The client is not up yet so I don't understand your comment about lots of points blown away. I think we have lost track of the original question, or assumption. That the current cp's will be converted to VIP's. You will still have time to spend your current cps fritz, just don't count on a conversion of the old into the new.

Hi
I just started to look at new software - I like auto rebuy on cash tables.
How can I switch off BlackJack button on cash tables?
Prefered seating is ok but why I still have to choose it every time I join new table - why I can't save my prefered seat? It specially painfull in turnaments when you jump to new table
Have a nice day

no way to edit the post, now i know points can be used for tourney entries,
but will they count towards my future vip status?
Can I also buy items from the shop?
And for pending bonuses: what is the exchange rate?

As i tested in a short poker session, it seems to be much harder to earn the equivalent to former points now.

Ok people, please listen as the same question has been asked and answered half a dozen times already.

You comp Points - You cant see them displayed in the client anymore, however in the next day or so they will be shown in your player admin. They will not be converted to VIP points or help your VIP status in any way. You WILL be able to enter into a lot of different tournaments over the next month.

and for those naysayers, we did inform everyone to spend their points. I sent an email to all 2million odd people who are signed up on either Carbon or PDC.
(yes im that guy who fills your inbox).

New bonus requirements - 50VIP points per $1 for initial and 75VIP per reload.
used to be 250 and 300 cp respectively.

Also someone tried to hack my forum account. And I will find out who.

I like auto rebuy on cash tables.
I don't understand this option. You enter on table with 10$, set auto-rebuy to 10$ then each time you pay blind, your stack come back to 10$... Yeah so nice  I'd rather a auto-reload, meaning you enter with 10$ if you loose it all your stack go back to 10$ instead of having to type in and then be sitting out...

I have a pending reload bonus and will have to earn about 170 VIP per 1$.

Yeah sorry i made a mistake yesterday calculating but I still think sth is wrong with my bonus.

Before the changes I had:
135$ reload, 50 cleared so 85$left, ca. 23100CP left to clear so I was close (600CP) to the next 10$

In the new system it should be:
75$ * 75VIP = 5625VIP to clear 75$ AND about 150VIP for the missing 10$ which were almost cleared.

5625VIP + 150VIP = 5775VIP to clear my bonus. My coupon tab showed me 6948VIP to clear the bonus yesterday.

That would be about 90VIP per 1$. So the difference is not that big, anyway its 20% more to earn. I wouldnt care so much, but with your changes its become much harder to earn points at all. (Yesterday i made 40 points in a short session, I used to make about 400 earlier)

Well it was raised prior to the 4.5 Program...Im not sure exactly how long ago tho but it was like that a couple of weeks ago. They changed minimum withdrawal to 100 and not 50, which isnt a big deal I think.

But If you make enough points and get to the Tier levels, the withdrawl fee gets cut down. So gives players incentive to play more and get to the next level to avoid fee costs. After the Hearts Tier, checks are free. And you cant go down levels unless you are inactive for 60 days.

When I heard about this program at first, I thought it would suck and not be worth that much.

But its great!!! Much more fair, and I like the point system now than before. Before, I always had to play cash games to earn them and sitngos and MTT (low stakes) didnt really affect the points. But now everything is equal and fair.

Theres no doubt that carbon was the best site to earn points easily so far. All sites are different in that way. But I feel like the new system has dropped carbon down from number one to the bottom of this ranking. Getting points only for the part of rake u have payed in a specific hand is in my opinion a bit poor.
Other sites for example give each player points for the full rake that was paid.

After playing this site for a while I never had problems to qualify for the freerolls. Now its hard for me to reach even the first VIP level (earth).

And I am a bit dissapointed that the old comppoints will not count towards the april VIP level.

I only hope that I will be able to enter the shop (when its opened) to buy tournament entries unless I am a VIP. Does anybody know that?
I already asked that in another thread but didnt get answer yet. (ok, the mods surely are very busy atm)

Lets see how much the points a worth then.

fritzson
04-03-2009, 07:17 AM
Rubnik, you get fair points..

If you sit tight and play and hardly play blinds, why should you be eligible for
freerolls as it use to be, while others playing their hands and pay rake for it. :beaten:

This maybe take the game to the next level.

The points are fair...

I was one of those who suggested a point system like this, even if I gave another example.

This system makes it easier for lower stakes to gain points too - even it it is more limit on lower stake, because on the low buy in.

rubnik
04-03-2009, 07:51 AM
I dont complain that the system changed and that it has become harder now to earn points. As I said, before it was very easy to gain points here.
But I think its too hard now. In my eyes playing NL 25 (SH) and FL 25/50 (SH) should make it possible to reach at least the basic VIP level without multitabling several hours each day a month. Theres still a life besides poker.

at this site, there is almost no traffic at the higher limits (especially playing usual european time), and its not very much better the other times.
I usually play 4 tables, and I dont fold any hand thats worse than AJs, I dont fold at any action of my opponents. I play normal agressive poker like it has to be at SH tables.
AND I play some more sites than carbon and compared to them I feel its too hard here.

Rubnik, you get fair points..

If you sit tight and play and hardly play blinds, why should you be eligible for
freerolls as it use to be, while others playing their hands and pay rake for it. :beaten:

I think Rubnik is correct. You only get VIP points on the part of rake YOU contribute, not the entire rake amount. You no longer get any points for what others pay in rake. Prevents sitting and folding to gain points, but makes it very tough on limit tables (even $1 ones) to earn any points.

Well, you get point depending on how big the pot is.

You get points for SB and BB... if you fold every other hand.

I was all in at the table yesterday and got 7 points for it.

so now, if I'm understanding correctly, players that are chasing points, will also be chasing any draw regardless. Then again, I suppose that's not much different than before. It will make just it than much more difficult for those players that want to play poker and could not care less about points.

Well i was one of those people that were worried about the new points system and i thought it was going to be bad, however, in the last 2 days i have made nearly 2000 points, and thats me only playing for about 6 hours a day on 2 tables 50-1.
So in fact i actually welcome the new points system.

Either this statement is not true, I'm misunderstanding something, or I'm getting hosed out of points. I may not have played 12 hours, maybe 6, but I was 3 to 4 tabling 0.5/1 and I haven't quite reached 200 pts yet.

Why would they take off the 19:20 HO tourny?? That was a great tourny and 50-60 people played EVERYDAY. Also, they changed up all the times for my 3 fave's. Horse,50 man max and Bagugi all run within 20 minutes of each other. :( Once those tournies are done the choices are slim pickens if ya want something other than Holdem. Used to stay here all day. Now I have to leave Carbon and go to Full tilt.
Also, some Stud hilo tournines would be nice for a change. Give a little something for everyone.

Not overly impressed with the changes. If its not broke, don't fix it!!

I really dont believe the he produced 2000$ rake in 12 hours on 50/1.

If u made 2000 points you have paid 2000$ of rake. You played 4 tables for 6 hours each. So lets see: On fast tables u play 100 hands per hour.
Thats 100hands x 24 hours = 2400 hands. Means u pay 0.83$ rake per hand. Rake is 5% of the pot. So in average u have a 16.67$ bet per hand (which was called by at least 1 player). Hmmmm, I suppose u play NL and go allin every hand.

I look very forward to see u at the tables!

Yes, its gotten harder to earn points mostly on cash tables, but before was a joke. People just sit on the tables for hours, fold almost every hand just for points. That is definetely eliminated and should be. This system is only good way to go. But if you guys say you have lives and other things to do other than why play for points? You should be playing for money and this system does that. You just cant have the easy way out everytime.

I think it is quite obvious the opinion on the new point system is not very high. I do know that i played around 10 hours a week on .50/1.00 and 1.00/2.00 Limit tables as well as some.25/.50 tables. I usually made about 5000 points each week.Under the old system at a rate of $10 per 3000 points for a bonus playthrough that was about $1.66 per hour for playthrough. At the present rate of 90 VIP points per $1.00 for playthrough, i have played the same tables for approx. 10 hours now and have made about 150 VIP points which translates to .166 per hour of play. Approximately a rate of 1/10 of the previous point system. In addition to that there is much more raising preflop and on turns for draws so there is approximately 3.5 times the cost to play a single hand now on top of the poor rate of return. In my meager opinion it is not worth play beyond for the money if you happen to be winning. AND WHERE THE HECK ARE MY 140,OOO POINTS THAT THEY TOOK!

cry I can't sit at tables and just collect points instead of playing poker cry!!!!!!! What a crock of ****

PLay poker and don't worry about the points. It is all of these people that ruin the poker cash games here and that is why it was changed. Just ridiculous people are complaining that they can't fold and still get points. They are rewarding the people who contribute the most to the site's profit - is that not the way it should be?

NO MORE RUINING THE CASH GAMES - CUDOS CARBON!!!!

If you are any kind of poker player then the people way overpaying for their draws for "Points" should net you more profit no?

Not a question of playing or not poker.
The new system is hard, and far frm the previous. Especially for tight players, when you have someone always raising your blinds and everyone fold then you pay your seat but have no point because no flop. You can spend a lot of money before obtain any point.
In fact this system awards loose players, I'm not sure the poker will be better in quality...

this isnt right........if u were to pay $200 in rake, that is 2000pts of which are split up between every player that contributed to each and every pot. so not sure how close i am, but my guess would be around 1200-1400 points. any1 know the formula their using to divi up points per hand? Maybe im wrong for saying this, but only my feelings. The vip program is suposedly based on a loyalty system right? What about those of us who have proven a loyalty through last few yrs only to start over and prove loyalty again? Whats gonna happen 4 more yrs down road, start over and prove again? As far as sites go, in my opinion PDC has the best support team (above the live operators) most issues ive had were dealt with fairly timely. And the site has treated me well with promos and bonuses, but i just feel kinda robbed by the new "loyalty program"

This is just me thinking loud.... as normal it doesn't mean much! :D

Normally, well, in my experience, when changing system old members use to
get some benefits, that new members dosen't have.

Ok, we were supposed to be able to use or old comp points for something.
It has gone a week since we were told within a few days something was
going to be set up for those... and we should have 60 days on us to use.

I am not sure, but I haven't seen the store for old comp points yet. If the
days are counted from 1st of April, we have now 52 days on us.... the clock
is ticking.

When I realised that I had to earn 5000 points in one month to reach the
first level (talking for carbon) I was like huh... How the heck am I going to do
that. I guess these levels are calculated on peoples activity, I guess the levels
is set through that... I don't really think it is dream levels even if it feels like it....

Since old comp points wasn't going to be converted to new vip points I was
thinking if you could be able to buy vip points in the store... I mean, old
members should have some advantage in the vip ladder for "long time in duty"...

Just a thought from me... :o

I like the system and as i said already. One day ill get to that first tier as i did to life time comps of 250k.. for a tourney/ low buy in player. Thats not bad in 3yrs.

Yer but I am loyal to site. They have been loyal to us. Think the system is correct with that one exception. After all this time to have to start from scratch.

I would not expect a reward as such of course. Such as start of next tier which would be a cash out of 100$ if i decided to.

Fritz i like your idea, but since no forward info was ever giving towards the upgrade, to what would happen with comp points. For older players now i dont think that would be fair to add at this point. Some of us finally spent on sat coupon's.

As a loyal player here i have been offered and did participate in the first upgrade trial period with numerous others from site and forum. Thats kewl locality stuff :D:win: Enjoyed it anyway.

I will probably be around long enough to see 1st tier. If I dont run out of cash pmsl.

But I do and think players using forum and players of long time standing, play, etc. As a loyal bunch of people. And you have access as site to know who they are. And there still alot of us around that started play $ 4+yr ago and have been spending real $ for more than 2 yr now.

Even if its.. your a joker on pdcpoker.. or what ever it is on carbon.. etc..
Over a year. Your joker accolade for level even. etc up.. Long as your A yearling.. something to this affect.

Course a PiP ** system over our avatar one pip * for each year served here :D is interesting too. IMO.

what happened to the old store? it used to ship me stuff. No you can not use your old comp points in the new store. Below is a post I made in another thread showing what you can use them for. Unfortunately you have missed all but the last Easter Swag tournaments. To purchase the tournament coupons go to your Player Admin.

I just want to make sure everyone is clear on this: Old comp points are not being converted, they will only be able to be used to purchase coupons for tournament entry. The "exchange rate" I was referring to in my post was about how many comp points will be needed to purchase these tournament coupons. The secret is now out, this is what I found in my PDC & Carbon Player Admin:

Trade Comp Points for tournament entry coupons.

Coupon Name ...........................Description............ ............................................CP Cost
$2.20 Satellite ............................$2.20 Satellite Coupon............................................ .......15000
$11 Satellite................................$11 Satellite Coupon............................................ .........50000

I could get 2 $109 ds coupons + or I could get 1 $109 ds and 2 $60 sat. coupons +

What do you use the $60 sat. coupons on....

I know there is better money to be made on the $109 but what would you do..

John,

I took 2 or 3 $11 sats, and then rest in $2.20.

Made that up to 6 x $11 and 3 x $109 so far.

Confident in play - go low

Whao...big disscussion.

I feel the Honsey has mainly answered the comp point issue - basically you will have options to spend these.

If someone would like to post a definitive list of questions you all have I will answer them. :)

Jason, a recommendation ... I spent 250,000 for the deep stack coupon so I could play it the other day; however, when I went to reg it said I did not have the coupon, but I did. Upon further review I realized my coupon tab showed for SUNDAY ONLY :beaten:

Perhaps it would be better to include it is for a Sunday only deep stack as the description DOES NOT indicate that it is for a Sunday only game  Would clear up some confusion; this should have been put in there IMO.

I don't know for sure now if I can play this Sunday, and if I can't am I able to use that coupon for ANY Sunday?

Thanks for your time

Sorry there is no EDIT tab to delete the first one. Perhaps a mod can do it

Did we ever find out if the tiers reset at the end of the month or year or even at all?

I know I'm not Jason, but as far as the Deep Stack Coupon goes, it's description and value shows as $109. The only tournament for $109 buy-in at this time happens to be on Sunday, but if they add any others to the schedule, your coupon would be good for that also. If you check your Cashier/Coupons you will see there is no expiration date, so you can use it any time in the future... Good luck whenever you get to use it! :win:

I would assume this is the same kinda thing -

From VIP Facts

Do my points decay?

1. Yes. They decay at a specific rate dependant on your Royalty Tier however, they will only decay if your inactive for 60 days and do not log any VIP points in that time. For more information please visit the VIP Tiers page.

Ok I got a question on the Tier levels....

Suppose I have 3000 pts and get to the Diamonds level (on PDC). I would need 7000 pts to get to the next tier-Spades level. But if I spend say 2000 pts on an item from the store, would I still need 7000 pts to get to the Spades level or would I need 9000 now?

So for tracking tier levels, is it from points earned or from the points you have? It would make sense if it was from points earned, but I just want to make sure.

And also if I spend pts on an item, will I go down a tier? Im pretty sure the answer is no, but you never know..

Like the comp points. Your life time total keeps going. So no tears for your tier's! :win:

Even if you spend VIP points for coupons or wow enough for trip or what ever. VIP life time points i believe stay same no matter. You earned em your tier totals will always go up. More less i think you answered your own questions ;) Welcome !

Store Purchases/Tourney Entries/Cash exchanges will deduct from your available balance of VIP pts, but will not reduce your life-time earnings...

This means that you will not drop Tiers or need to earn those spent points again to reach the next tier.

The only way they reduce is if you dont play for 60 days... in which case your life-time earnings of VIP points will be decayed and you could drop a VIP tier.

Resets as in what??? Like if you need 2500 for the first level, and then u need 10,000 for the next.....so 10,000 will be the total and ud get to the next level??

Or is it if u need 2500 for the first, then 10,000 more???

No no no .. don't worry lucks. Fritzons question was about if they should get reset/ back to 0 for anyreason. Liam answered No. Just play and build :D VIP point life time points do not go down. Just the on hand VIP points should you use any. So if you have 10k in VIP points built up. Only way they go down, is if you dont play for 60 days. And then they only go down a %.

And that is only fair to site realy, if you stop playing for a year or something like that!. Again do not worry about the reset question ;) But please ask stuff!:crown:

OK got it ..I think. So on PDC if you earn 10000 pts, you get to the spades level?

So you dont need 10,000 more after u have 2,500 pts? Only 10,000 total?

No going by program itself i think its diamonds, but dont quote me there. Not sure what that first tier is on pdc to be exact. But says 2500. But when going to the VIP part of program its 10k per tier :beaten: If you find anything other that what is on forum about this luck  lol let me know where. That is mostly info on tier's.

10k per tier?? Kinda confused me there.... But support says that the points earned is what gets you in the next tier. So once you earn 2500 u get in the diamonds level. Then when you earn 10,000 points, you get into the next tier. But im not totally sure.....

Hmm... I wouldn't be halfway if I didn't change skin... On carbon maybe with in 10 years. PDC only a few points more to go....a couple of hundreds.

Ps. I don't like the new window system of cashier. I always do the same mistake. lol
