so I was playing in a HU tournament today. I've played HU cash games before but never in a tournament.

its about 7 hands in, blinds are still 10/20 with starting chipstacks of 2500

we haven't seen a flop yet. there has been preflop betting involving raises 3xbb - 5xbb, and subsequent folds, resulting in about even stacks until now.

the only unique play was when i raised 5xbb from bb after opponent flat-calls from sb, opponent shoved all-in, and i folded.

now,
i have AQs from the sb, and raise 5xbb
opponent shoves all-in. what do you do?

how about if blinds are at 50/100? 300/600?

Probably call, you most likely have your opponent dominated and will lose on the turn or river to A8 offsuit

In my opinion if your going to fold AQs then your going to fold everyhand, i cant see any reason to fold unless you already have him tagged as a tight player then in that case i would give him the respect and fold and 'hope' he shows you or rabbits. But if and when he does it again against you AQs i would have to call and if he turns over QQ KK AK AA then you know the notes you have on him are perfect and hopefully next time you come across him you will have the knowledge and upper hand:D

call, I'm definately putting hands like AT+ KJ, KQ in his range vs a random as a bare minimum, which puts you ahead of him. If blinds are 50/100 I probably open for like 2.5 BB and then fist pump snap call. If blinds are 300/600 I open shove.

it was early tournament so i figured if the opponent was calling 2.5bb, he would call 5xbb too. i had no notes on my opponent, but he had 3 stars so at least i know he wasn't a donk pushing every hand with garbage.

i called and he flipped over AK. no suckouts for me =( haha

thanks for your advice guys -- i was just wondering if i made the right play.
i figured it might have been better to fold since it was so early in the tournament (only 7 in). but i guess not. better luck next time..

im folding.... too deep to call off 125 BB and he shoves meaning he is clearly a poor player so just beat him dont race him, I call AK or a wired pair here maybe AQ AJ

I'd fold.

Wouldn't apply in your case, we all know you'd be all in first;)

meh...125BBs or not I still say it's at least a marginally +eV call vs a random...guess it depends a bit on your player pool though. You could definitely argue that it would be more +eV to wait for a better spot, especially if he seems super ****ty.

I just do it up here and boot another game up :)
