I assume you guys are talking soccer here. This has nothing to do with the sale of any team but it is funny nonetheless.

its called football by the rest of the world ...for some odd reason the americans r left behind in this as normal and make up there own names for sports...how can u call american football ..football when u throw the ball and then make a 1 hr game last 3 hrs beggars belief...lol and also allow room for adverts while in the middle of it all...lol....also we us a football not a soccer ball and use our feet hence the name football

Er i think they only corrected the word* term football. I know better than to say soccer to any euro nation lol. I first went high school back in 70's School called it soccer, everyone that played it called it football, cause they were mostly European. Do not think they were knocking No one just correcting light heartedly. And not knocking no one but this is a Aussie site, with American dictionary. Everywhere but USA color is spelled colour. Or most the world. Etc  I still dont know why we call FootBall football when its mostly a passing throwing game lol. We should call our football soccer :D lol

Americans do EVERYTHING our own special way. It's why the rest of the world can revile us while accepting our money.

the football thing may be a little wierd, but if you consider the World Series and the World Championships to which the rest of the world is not invited, you'll see a pattern.

Please don't put words in my mouth. I never said anything of the sort and you know it.

Now, I propose the following: Worldminusamerica football should really be called bodyball as the only body part that is illegal to use is one's hands.

I do think though. That Goalie in football/soccer. Considering size of dat net! Give them Biggest bucks sports wise.. lol beats any hockey goalie ! Ball not as fast as puck sometimes but some them guys pull off real wild saves!

A Singapore-based group which includes former Liverpool midfielder Steve McMahon is ready to table a bid for Newcastle, BBC Sport has learned.

The Profitable Group claims that it would keep Alan Shearer on as manager if successful.

However, Newcastle say they are yet to be contacted by the group.

Current owner Mike Ashley put the club up for sale for £100m following the Magpies' relegation from the Premier League last season.

Keith Harris, chairman of investment bank Seymour Pierce, has been appointed to broker a deal, which he expects to be completed by the end of June.

He said on Monday that he had already been in contact with "two or three" interested parties.

"The group website names Kenny Dalglish as their UK operations advisor and former Liverpool midfielder Steve McMahon is a director.

"Their concept for the club involves hugely increasing supporter involvement through a trust system on the lines of that in place at Barcelona.

"Alan Shearer is their number one choice as manager, they'd look to increase capacity of St James' Park and put a footballing man in the boardroom."

Time is of the essence for Newcastle, who remain without a manager as they prepare for life in the Championship.

Shearer, who took charge of the Magpies on a temporary basis at the end of last season, has presented his future plans to Ashley, but the owner is unwilling to appoint a full-time manager because prospective buyers are likely to want to make their own appointment.

Season ticket-holders are due to receive their renewal notices this week, but many may be unwilling to commit themselves as long as the unpopular Ashley remains owner and fans' favourite Shearer is not guaranteed a job.

Rumour in the toon is 2 or 3 interested parties and that Ashley will accept in the region of £80,000,000.

That could be good business long term. Personally, (as a toon fan) I can't see them bouncing back straight away.

Big Al as manger.......He has no (next to none) managerial experience and has also never played in the championship......a very different league and style of football. Is he right for the job....not sure. I would like to see him involved and possibly as manager, but I think it may take 2 seasons to get back and not sure that he is the man for the job in the championship.

£80,000,000 for a championship club??? I guess thats the big question.........Sleeping giants or another Leeds?.....you decide!

It has too be a sleeping giant, its not possible to be called a big club when you havnt won anything for over 40 years! If it was on fan base then Newcastle would be a big club along with Man city (30k in div 1)

Newcastle fans are superb but need to wake up abit and realise they are not as big as what thay think they are!

Onto my next point, Why are Newcastle fans so gullable? Shearer didnt want to know when you were a safe mid-table club, he was happy picking up his fat wages from the BBC, but when it becomes almost a complete hopeless mess he sees achance to get his bloated ego a boost and take the NO LOSE post as manager, if he keeps them up his hero status goes higher than ever before but if they (which they did) go down then he can leave with the pats on his back and 'oh its ok you tried your best but we still think your great'. Can you really see him going to peterboro on a wet n cold wintery tuesday night? errrrrrrrrrm NO, come on Toon fans lets get real n wake up, 1 win in 8 (maybe wrong but close) and god no' how many £millions, hes took your money and ran and made a mockery of you. Has an England fan i respect him as a player but has a person hes in the gutter for me, sorry!
