Hi Guys
I you're in the UK, looking for a live tourney, and anywhere near the Midlands, I recommend you check out the card room at 'The Broadway' Casino in Birmingham. It's simply the best. :win:
ALL games are dealt by house dealers (i.e. no players ever deal) and they are very competent! Touneys are every night except Wed and Thu - I most like Mondays - £25 double chance freezout, usually gets around 140 runners - mostly good players, no donkeys! I made first place a few weeks ago - 1st prize was £1570 - not bad for £25 plus £4 registration!
Soft drinks are free (of course) and the restaurant is not bad... Posh looking place too. One warning - unless you're wealthy, avoid the cash tables! Guys sitting down with several grand to play
If you do try it out, ask anyone if I'm there, (They call me 'doc') and if I am, come and say hi! ;)

What rake do they charge on cash games and is there a cap?
What stakes are available?
Why would i want to play there if there are no donkeys?

...ALL games are dealt by house dealers (i.e. no players ever deal) and they are very competent! What Casino, anywhere, allows or requires a "player" to deal the cards? I've played all over the place and have never heard of this. I would never play in a venue that didn't employ a professional dealer. Very strange.
Long drive from California ;), but if I ever get over there I'll check it out.
If you are ever out here, check out Pechanga Casino in Temecula, Ca. 20+ tables around the clock with tons of fish. The only poker room that is better around here is the Commerce Casino in LA. Thankfully Vegas in only a short drive and they have some good rooms out there. Who WOulda thunk it.

I presume he means house-dealt tournaments. We have a lot of player-dealt ones here.

Does the house still take rake? And does the dealer get tips?

Yes, and if it's a player dealt tourney, it's usual rotated I.E the button actually deals. If it's just one dealer, they are playing as well so no, no tips.

so the house takes rake but doesn't supply a dealer. And they rely on the math skills of the players to determine the rake?

the tourneys will have a entry fee so there is no rake and the ones i've played at there is only a dealer at the FT (or so i've been told ;) and most casinos with cash games will have an ante paid per hour so there is no need for a house dealer
Hi Mav long time no see mate

Yeah, tourney fees are paid up front, so obv not rake.
If there are no dealers for cash games, they charge each player per hour, and you can do what you want basically.
Oh by the way Ram, they have dealers and raked games at huddersfield now, although i don't ever go anymore, Leeds is the new home :)
